Abstract. Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) is an underrecognized cause of malabsorption in the geriatric population, characterized by the excessive growth of bacteria in the small bowel, sometimes bearing resemblance to colonic flora.   SIBO is characterized by food passing through the small intestine and facing a serious digestion issue because bacterial overgrowth interferes with the digestion and absorption procedures. Bacteria associated with SIBO consumes most of the food and nutrients and causes problems such as pain, flatulence and bloating.

*Intestinal bacteria contribute to intestinal odor. Flora of the Respiratory Tract *Flora create an environment that may prevent infections and can enhance host defenses *Antibiotics, dietary changes, and disease may alter flora Chronic infections. progress and persist over a long period of time. Candida Overgrowth can go undetected for a long time. Most people infected with candida are unaware of the yeast infection and they look very healthy on the outside. However when Candida population increases, it is able to penetrate the bloodstream through the walls of the intestines and cause a condition known as leaky gut syndrome.
